MBBS & BDS (Admission, House Job & Internship) Regulations, 2018

As per PM&DC "MBBS & BDS (Admission, House Job & Internship) Regulations, 2018" endorsed by Supreme Court of Pakistan, there shall be centralized admissions in all public and private sector Medical and Dental colleges by the Admitting University of the respective province/region.

Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Health Department has notified Khyber Medical University (KMU) as Admitting University for the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Khyber Medical University(KMU),Peshawar being the "Admitting University" invites applications from eligible candidates for admission in the Private Sector Medical and Dental institutions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. for detail please click here

Eligibility criteria

(1) (a) The candidates must have passed obtaining minimum sixty percent (60%) marks, in higher secondary school certificate (HSSC) or F.Sc (Pre-medical) or equivalent examination having minimum twelve years of education; or

(b) The candidate must have passed, obtaining minimum sixty percent (60%) marks in aggregate in, an examination of a course from a foreign university or examining body or foreign education system with at least three science subjects i.e. biology, chemistry and either physics or mathematics and such course must have been duly certified by the Inter-boards Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) as equivalent to higher secondary school certificate (HSSC) or F.Sc or intermediate level of Pakistan.

(2) Foreign or dual nationality holders or overseas Pakistani students desirous of taking admission in MBBS or BDS courses against open merit or foreign quota seat in any private institution must have passed, obtaining minimum sixty percent (60%) marks in aggregate, in an examination of a course from a foreign university or its examining body or its education system in at least three subjects i.e Biology, Chemistry and either Physics or Mathematics and such course must have been duly certified by IBCC as equivalent to HSSC, F.Sc. or intermediate level of Pakistan.

(3) Pakistani students having passed from foreign education system (i.e 0 levels, A levels etc) in Pakistan shall not be eligible for foreign quota seats.

(4) A foreign or dual nationality student or overseas Pakistani students desirous of taking admission to MBBS and BDS course against open merit or foreign quota seats in private institution shall have to meet the following additional eligibility criteria, namely:

(a) The candidate must have passed English Language Proficiency Test e.g. valid TOEFL or IELTS with a minimum score of 500 or 5.5 or have a certification by National University of Modem Languages (NUML) after one year English language course, where medium of instructions for obtaining required academic qualifications for admission test is not English.

(b) Candidates having foreign or dual nationality or overseas Pakistani students and qualified from abroad may also apply if they have passed a foreign SAT II examination with minimum 550 marks in each of the three subjects i.e biology, chemistry and either physics or mathematics or a foreign MCAT with minimum score of 500.

(5) No candidate shall be eligible for foreign quota seats in private medical and dental institutions unless he holds a permanent foreign nationality or dual nationality or overseas Pakistani student who has studied and passed HSSC 12th grade examination or equivalent from outside Pakistan and has stayed in the foreign country for the whole duration of the of the above mentioned course and possesses a certificate from the institution last attended to this effect.

(6) The candidates who have appeared in the ETEA Entrance Test held in 2018/MDCAT (2018) / SAT-II (with minimum of 550 marks in each of the three subjects i.e. Biology, Chemistry and either Physics or Mathematics)/MCAT/Foreign MCAT with minimum score of 500.

Merit Criteria

The merit for the purpose of admission shall be calculated as an aggregate percentage of marks derived from the formula of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) as below:

How to apply

1. The candidates who meet the eligibility criteria shall download/print the admission forms, admission policy and bank deposit slip for private medical and dental colleges/institutions available on KMU website (www.kmu.edu.pk)

2. The candidates are required to deposit Rs.2500/- (for each category of seats) in any branch of MCB bank on prescribed deposit slip as application processing fee on or before the last date of submission of application.

3. The application forms (both for open merit and foreign quota seats) complete in all respects along with original bank deposit slip and required attested documents shall be submitted by hand at Khyber Medical University, Peshawar from 9 AM to 5 PM seven days a week. Incomplete/ deficient applications shall not be entertained.

4. No forms will be accepted through mail/courier.

5. Applicant shall give his/her preference in order of priority for the private MedicaVDental Colleges in the designated fields provided in the form which once provided to KMU will stand final. Subsequent changes in preference will not be entertained. The applicant shall be considered only for those colleges for which preference has been shown.

Important notes

1. List of applicants for allocation of seats in respective private medical/dental college on merit cum choice along with final joint merit list will be displayed on the university website.

2. Applicants selected for any category shall have to deposit their fee within seven days of displaying Iof final merit list on the website or notice board of Admitting University. In case of failure to deposit fee the candidate shall have no vested right of admission in that year and the next applicant on the merit list will be offered admission to facilitate timely completion of admission process. Candidate shall be called for confirmation of their final placement after one week of display of the merit list.

3. Revision of result or improvement of marks by any Board after the closing date of submission of Admission Form shall not affect the merit list of admissions for the current year in any way. Similarly, results declared after the closing date of submission of admission forms shall not be accepted for admission in the current session.

4. Applicant desirous of admission in private medical and dental institution shall submit a wealth statement of either parent/guardian, equivalent to five years tuition fee, income tax return of either parent/guardian and shall also submit insurance certificate to ensure the payment of fees for the remaining duration the course in case of demise of parent/guardian.
